Hoffman Estates is a Northwestern suburb of Chicago, IL. It’s mainly located in Cook County with a small portion of it in Kane County. At the 2010 census, the population was 49,495. The village has a total area of 20.98 square miles; 20.80 square miles (99.14%0 is land and 0.18 square miles (0.86%) is water.
Hoffman Estates is known for having many businesses. It’s home to a couple of headquarters including Sears Holding Corporation and Mori Seiki. There are many other large corporations in the city including: AT&T Inc., St. Alexius Medical Center, GE Capital, Career Education Corporation (which is also headquartered in Hoffman Estates), ADP, Siemens Medical Solutions, Leopardo, Liberty Mututal, Claire’s Warehouse and Distribution Center, Bosch Rexroth, and FANUC.
There are many school districts that serve students living in Hoffman Estates. The majority attend school in District 211 and District 54. North Hoffman Estates students attend District 211, District 15, or District 220. Students living west of Barrington Road attend District U-46. District 211 is a high school district. The high schools include: Palatine, Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Academy-North, and Academy-South. District 54 is a kindergarten through 8th grade school district. The district has 21 elementary schools and they include: Adlai Stevenson, Adolph Link, Albert Einstein, Anne Fox, Campanelli, Eisenhower, Edwin Aldrin, Elizabeth Blackwell, Enders-Salk, Everett Dirksen, Fairview, Fredrick Nerge, Hanover Highlands, Herbert Hoover, Lakeview, Douglas Macarthur, Michael Collins, Nathan Hale, Neil Armstrong, Thomas Dooley, and Winston Churhill. There are 5 junior high schools (middle schools) and they are: Helen Keller, Jane Addams, Margaret Mead, Robert Frost, and Lincoln Prairie School serves kindergarten through 8th grade. The elementary schools in district 15 are: Jane Addams, Central Road, Hunting Ridge, Thomas Jefferson, Marion Jordan, Kimball Hill, Lake Louise, Lincoln, Stuart R. Paddock, Pleasant Hills, Gray M. Sanborn, Virginia Lake, Frank C. Whiteley, Willow Bend, Winston Campus. The junior high schools are Plum Grove, Carl Sandburg, Walter R. Sundling, and Winston Campus. The elementary schools in District 220 are Arnett C. Lines, Barbara B. Rose, Countryside, Grove Avenue, Hough Street, North Barrington, Roslyn Road, and Sunny Hill. Barrington Middle School has two separate campuses: Prairie and Station. The only high school in the district is Barrington High School.
There are a few activities offered to Hoffman Estates residents through two park districts: Hoffman Estates, and Palatine. There are a number of parks in the Hoffman Estates Park District. Black Bear Park, Bridges in Poplar Creek Country Club, Freedom Run Dog Park, Bos Run Dog Park, and Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center are some of the places Hoffman Estates has for its residents. An ice arena, sledding, and an outdoor ice rink are also available. There are camps, figure skating, hockey leagues, and many more activities within the park district. Palatine Park District has a few things to offer as well. They have dance, diving, gold, gymnastics, culinary arts, and athletic programs available for anyone and everyone. Both districts offer various parks and different activities. Hoffman Estates residents are invited to attend either park district.
